For Therapists

Let the water do the hardest part of your work.

You know the hardest part isn't the therapy — it's getting people to stay engaged long enough for it to work.

Calm water at dusk with a distant sail

Sail Beyond Horizons is built on a simple insight the research keeps confirming: when the experience is genuinely enjoyable, people show up, and they keep showing up.

In one VA sailing study, 86% of participants completed their treatment program, versus 55% of a matched group who didn't sail — a statistically significant difference in the outcome you care about most.

Your role

After each sailing session, you meet one-on-one with your client to process the experience and translate it into transferable coping skills — locus of control, distress tolerance, psychological flexibility, and more. The metaphors are already in the water; you help the client bring them ashore.

Why therapists join

  • Engaged clients. The sailing does the hard work of getting people in the door and invested.
  • A novel, embodied modality that complements the frameworks you already use — ACT, mindfulness, CBT.
  • We handle the logistics. Boats, instructors, scheduling, and safety are covered by our sail-school partners. You focus on the clinical work.
  • Flexible involvement that fits around an existing practice.

Join our therapist network

You bring the license and the clinical skill. We bring the setting, the structure, and the clients.

Wherever you are, there's a horizon worth sailing toward.
